I have never been to Hawaii. I would love to, though. I have dreamed about it for years and hope to someday soon make it a reality. In the meantime, I will settle for enjoying some of the cuisine. Someone shared this in a recipe group I am in. I had never heard of Hawaiian macaroni salad, but was very intrigued. I tried it and it was super tasty, easy to make, and provided enough with the recipe I followed to feed a lot of people. I also learned that traditional Hawaiian macaroni salad only has a few ingredients - macaroni, mayo, milk, carrots, and pepper - so not a lot of ingredients needed for the traditional version. You can add other things if you wish. Definitely want to try it at your next potluck!
Ingredients: macaroni, milk, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, carrots
Step 1: Boil macaroni until slightly overcooked. Cool. Step 2: Add milk, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, and grated carrots to macaroni. Stir together. Step 3: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. (Note: you can add other things like celery, onion, and peas if you wish; however, that is not sticking with authenticity in this case.)
