Thanksgiving

2020 has been an up and down year for most of us. There was good, bad, and lots of in-between. But rather than dwell on the not-so-great things, I am going to talk about the good things.

I am thankful for my husband. He is a good man, an excellent father, and my best friend. I am thankful for my son. He is growing up so fast and is truly one of my favorite people. I am thankful for good parents who love me and support me. They love their grandchildren fiercely and are kind to their sons-in-law. I am thankful for my sister, who is a wonderful friend and an excellent mother and aunt. I am thankful for my grandmother, who is so generous with those she loves. I am thankful for my grandfather, who loves his family so much. I am thankful for my aunt who loves to dote on her great-nephews and niece. I am thankful for my uncle who loves a spirited conversation and his nieces and great-nephews and niece. I am thankful for my sweet nephew who is always happy to see me. I am thankful for my niece who snuggle sweetly in my arms. I am thankful for in-laws who treat me with kindness and genuine friendship. I love that they love my son.

I am thankful for a job. I am thankful for 2 jobs. And for additional opportunities that come along and put a few dollars in the bank. I am thankful for my house, which is small but full of charm. I am thankful for my car, which has been a wonderful addition to our family. I am thankful for my dog, who loves his family, and my cats, who bring joy and snuggles to our home. I am thankful for my coworkers and students. I am thankful for the blessing of good friends who love me for me.

I am thankful that I have been mostly healthy this year. I am thankful for 20+ lbs. gone from my body. I am thankful for this opportunity to chronicle my kitchen adventures and my personal thoughts. I am thankful that you are willing to share in my journey.

I am thankful for the grace, love, and mercy God gives to me every single day. I am thankful for sunshine and rain. I am thankful for each season. I am thankful for books and the opportunity to learn new things. I am thankful for intriguing TV shows and movies that provide entertainment and escape. I am thankful for music and how it allows me to express myself. I am thankful for my newfound interest in creating visual art. I am thankful for cheese and chocolate.

May I never forget to count my blessings...
